What is a /48 IPv6 subnet and how many addresses does it contain?
A /48 contains exactly 65,536 individual /64 subnets. How you allocate them to customers, locations, VMs or services depends on your network design.
What do I need in order to use the IPv6 subnet?
You need either your own ASN or a provider that can route the network for you. As the product is still in beta, we coordinate the initial configuration after ordering; self-service management is currently limited.
How fast is the IPv6 subnet delivered?
After payment, we review the intended use and availability and coordinate routing with you. We then usually provide the /48 within 24 hours with no setup fee.
Is there a minimum term?
You pay for the IPv6 subnet in advance, and it does not renew automatically. You renew only when still needed.
Can I try the IPv6 subnet first?
Yes. The Test Center lets you try the IPv6 /48 free for 90 days. The trial ends automatically.
Can I have the subnet routed by another provider?
In principle, yes. You need your own BGP routing or a provider that can announce the network; during beta, we coordinate the specific setup with you.
Why pay for IPv6 when hosters include it for free?
The leased /48 is available to your project as dedicated address space for the rental term. During beta, routing changes or moves are coordinated with us technically.
