How the spam protection works

The filter works before the mail reaches you

The spam filter is placed in front of your mailbox via DNS. Incoming messages are assessed and then delivered, quarantined or rejected according to your SpamExperts rules.

    Put the filter in front

    You place the filter ahead of your existing mailbox with an MX/DNS record – for noez domains just as for external providers.

  2. Step 2

    Scan the booked email direction

    Depending on the plan, incoming email, outgoing email or both directions are scanned for spam, phishing, viruses, malware and ransomware.

  3. Step 3

    Apply filter rules

    Depending on your configuration, messages are delivered, quarantined or rejected. You manage the rules in the SpamExperts web interface.

Frequently asked questions about the spam filter

How do I set up the spam filter?
After payment you receive instructions from us. Only a few DNS settings on your domain are required — after that, your email traffic runs through the filter. If you have questions, our support team helps you in German and English.
Does the spam filter also work with externally registered domains?
Yes. You can protect domains registered at noez.de as well as domains from external providers.
What does the incoming protection check?
Incoming emails are checked for spam, viruses, phishing, malware and ransomware before they reach your mailbox.
Why do I need outgoing protection?
Outgoing protection checks sent messages and helps detect spam from hacked accounts or infected scripts early. This lowers the risk of your domain or IP address being placed on a blocklist.
Can I adjust the filter settings myself?
Yes. You manage the filter settings available for your service through the SpamExperts web interface.
Are emails lost if my mail server goes down?
The spam protection provides additional email continuity: because the filter sits in front of your mailbox, it accepts emails even while your mail server is temporarily unreachable.
Is there a minimum term?
You pay for spam protection in advance with no minimum term. You can start setup directly after payment.
